Hop-a-long is a stray dog that I adopted once we moved into our bungalow.
When I first started feeding her she was very skittish , she wouldn't even come
close to me, but I still kept feeding her because she was so so skinny. After
about a month she would come close to me but she still wouldn't let me touch
her. When my dad was in Davis she finally let me touch her. I could pet her!
She is a very funny dog because whenever I am gone for even 15min, when we get
back she whimpers a little bit and then she growls, she does that when she is excited.
When she is excited she also wags her tail in a sideways eight position and
wiggles her body back and forth. She was pregnant but she had a miscarriage, probably
because the most important part of her pregnancy passed by with not a lot of
food. She follows me when I go on walks or runs, but I got scared running or
walking with her on the sides of roads (with the cars) that I now try to sneak
out without her seeing.
Last week for about a week Hoppy was so so so sick that I thought that she
was going to die. Her eyes where really infected or hurt and she was really
tired. We tried feeding her but she had lost her appetite. We looked up
things to do online and it said that you could try giving her Benadryl and some
rice. Luckily, she ate the rice that time, and another time in the morning but
after that she didn't eat any more. A couple days after trying the Benadryl we
put Neosporin in her eyes, which I think helped. Just a couple of days ago she
started acting normal again, I am so thankful. I will miss her so much when we
leave. We asked our neighbors to put out dinner scraps for her, but I don’t
know how things will turn out.
Here are some pictures of Hoppy.

| It was a cold, stormy night. The only place she found warm was curled up tight in a ball on out door mat. |
