Filtererd, or Not?

We are not dead or sick! Now, let me tell you why.

It all started when my Dad decided that it was time to change the filters in our super-duper uber deluxe triple filter water filter! When he opened the first filter… no filter. Then he opened the other two… no filters. All he found was a small pile of dirt in the bottom of each holder. I had always thought that the water didn't taste quite right…the water looked brown and dirty but we knew (thought) it was filtered. We are so thankful that none of us got sick in the past three and a half months!

This is what we thought was filtered water - we drank this!

Here is a funny story while we were still drinking this (unfiltered) water:

For Thanksgiving we went to an American couple’s house to have dinner. It was at the end of dessert when I went into the kitchen to fill up my glass with filtered water. They have our identical filter. When you turned their filter off the water would continue to run for a few seconds before it stopped. On the other hand, our filter ran for a good 30 seconds to a minute after being shut off. But with most of these kinds of filters after a month or so of using it, when you turn it off it will automatically stop. So I was talking with another couple and I was telling them that our filter was still running for a good 30 sec after we turn it off and that we have had it for over two months. Then she said that was weird. And now we know why. Ay yai yai, instruction manuals.

Creepy, Crawly Critters!

Here are some weird/cool/gross critters:

An awesome millipede we found in our yard.

Yes, this is in our house, and that is my finger! This is actually the smallest big spider we have found in our house!

Just one of the smaller ants we have found in our house.

The knife is about 1.5in wide.

Luckily this poisonous spider did not make it into our house. We saw it on a canoe ride down in a small village called Akwidaa.

We found these in Kotokuruba market. The lady selling them wanted to give one of them to us as a gift. Some of them are the size of your computer mouse or bigger!

A cool video of ants carrying a piece of cracker I gave them.

Weevils in our oatmeal! Now their village moved to our popcorn!

Then next two are a troupe of ants carrying a dead spider. Awesome!
